The Williams Difference
There are a few things that set Williams apart from other schools—things you should learn more about as you try to get a sense of whether we’re the right place for you. In Williams’ signature tutorial program, two students join one professor for an intensive, semester-long examination of a particular topic.

Through experience-based course work, community outreach, and off-campus study, Williams students are in direct engagement with the world.

More than 200 students each year work with their professors as fully funded research associates, often getting an early start on postgraduate study or continuing research.

Williams first-years live together in small, supportive groups of 20 or so, joined by two juniors who serve as on-site friends, mentors, and guides to the Williams experience.

Each January, Williams students enjoy a change of pace. They take an off-the-wall course, study off campus, do independent research, or work on their theses.

More than a million people visit Williamstown each year to enjoy the natural beauty and cultural richness of the place—as do the 2,000 or so students who call Williams home.
