First-Year Applicants

Williams is one of the most selective colleges in the country, admitting roughly 20 percent of applicants in most years. Our applicant pool typically includes students from all 50 U.S. states and more than a hundred countries. A large percentage of those who apply boast outstanding academic records and would be strong students at Williams.

Our task is to read each application carefully, looking beyond the numbers to determine which students would be the best match for our classrooms, clubs, and community. Choosing among so many stellar candidates is painstaking, humbling work, and we take it very seriously.

We offer two rounds of admission: binding Early Decision (due November 10) and Regular Decision (due January 1). See the links on the right for details.
